"Ever-changing visions of The Real"

Reality is ruled by diversity and so is this exhibition of five contemporary views expressing an “ever-changing visions of The Real”. Since the time of the first cave painting and fertility goddess, humanity has found ever-new ways to express emotions and thoughts, translating the former into visual or tactile objects of art. This contemporary exhibition of diverse viewpoints, subject matters and styles is a wonderful example of the richness of artistic expressions of realism today. On view are still-life paintings, landscapes, figurative drawings, allegorical figure paintings and sculptural furniture. The artists who have created these works are of different international origins. With their passion for art, their knowledge and accomplished skills, they come to represent the vital link between the past and the future of humanities rich traditions of aesthetic expression.

The artist Maddine Insalaco, originally from Long Island, NY, is showing her small and very precious Tuscan landscapes in oil. Maddine Insalaco is teaching landscape painting in Tuscany, Italy during the summer season, where she is working in the great plein air tradition of Italian landscape painting. These small spontaneous paintings manage to take you to the very moment and places where they were first conceived and then created. The richly colored palette and the choices of composition are leaving the viewer with a very contemporary experience of the charming Italian countryside.

Hongping Du is originally from China; in her passion for painting, she creates richly detailed still-life paintings. Every nuance of reality is registered in these vibrant works. There is an apparent vigor despite their stillness and a noticeable Asian influence. She has combined the traditional representation of the Dutch masters with her own Asian heritage, creating present-day art that nurtures the soul and reconnects with the beauty of nature.

Viviane Silvera is an International artist. She has lived in Hong Kong during the early part of her life, thereafter she spent time living in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Today Viviane resides and works in New York City. Her drawings are a wonderful addition to this diverse exhibition. In Viviane Silvera’s large drawings of expecting females, we are looking at the cutting edge of today’s expression. These drawings exhibit the endless vitality of life, its driving energy and a hope and vision for the future. With these works, Viviane Silvera has closed the time gap between the first representation of the fertility goddess and the present, hereby ensuring humanities continuation.

This brings us to the largest painting called “The Rebirth of Nature”, by Marlies Ihmels-Herget an international artist and designer, who was born in Germany, and later immigrated to the United States. The driving force behind her works of art is her diverse cultural experience, coupled with her philosophical interests and her knowledge in regards to art & design. This painting was created in the continuation of the great tradition of allegorical figure compositions. The contemporary content places this work among today’s experiences as humanity is playing with new philosophies abandoning the old. Worldwide humanity is entering a new dialogue to make sense of the many changes that have occurred due to the globalization and the advancement in science and technology. Marlies Ihmels-Herget's mastery of skills makes it possible for her to create works of art in a variety of subject matters, including large figurative paintings. She is always searching to combining both aspects, the intuitive emotional and the abstract intellectual, satisfying the need for an overall balance.

To complete the diversity of the ever-changing visions of the real, the exhibit includes some of the very tactile and aesthetically pleasing sculptural furniture by David N. Ebner a truly American artist and craftsman. He creates works of art & design in several modes of expression. Trained in the tradition of classical furniture design David N. Ebner has moved his work beyond the former forms of expression. His work shows absolute originality and communicates an organic feeling as if drawn directly from nature, conveying emotional and mental union to perfection. Every piece of David N. Ebner’s artworks takes on a life of its own, thus having a contemporary presence among humanity. The much neglected human need to touch in present-day time is satisfied through the tactile quality of these pleasing forms of art. David N. Ebner has a place among the masters of contemporary furniture design.

Through the artist’s unique perspective of the real, a vast body of art has come into existence. By visiting our museums we can witness the flow of humanities creative expressions moving through time. The artists in this exhibition guarantee the continuation of this tradition. Therefore, they are taking their place in the history of an ever-changing vision of The Real.
