“Inherent Beauty”

The exhibition features a collection of oil paintings created by Marlies Ihmels, who has captured quiet moments of nature’s eternal beauty in these contemporary works of art.

For centuries beauty has found expression through all forms of art, thus satisfying the basic human need for balance and harmony in life.  By looking at a pleasing form, a striking pattern or a lovely combination of colors, we are reassured of life’s innate values. Although they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there is a beauty that is so very fundamental to life; it is bound to touch everybody’s senses in highly delightful ways.

In these paintings, Marlies Ihmels leads us into a world of refined beauty, with compositions emanating a calming almost contemplative quality.  Inspired by the beauty of flowers, the nurturing quality of fruits and sweets, she created richly colored still-life paintings.  Especially pleasing are the balanced compositions imbuing these paintings with a stabilizing quality.

These artworks, like so many other paintings by Marlies Ihmels, communicate beauty through its intrinsic qualities, thereby leaving us with the feeling of inner peace.
